My 8 month old little boy just created his first master piece. That’s right…I am the proud mama of a true artist! How?! Glad you asked…
Here’s what you will need:
Ziploc: Your choice with the size…I went with a larger size
Paper: I went with a thicker paper and folded it a little bit so it fit nicely into the Ziploc
Paint: I went with tempera paint. The paint is in little tubs…easy for pouring
Any fun accessory item: rice, foil, etc.
- Put the paper in the Ziploc. Add small amounts of paint onto the paper. Add whatever accessory item…if you want 🙂
- Zip that baggie closed! MAKE SURE IT IS CLOSED!
- Get to “painting”
-Put the Ziploc on a hard surface (on the ground) where you baby can sit or lay near it (HELLO tummy time). Keep your hand on the Ziploc to keep in in place, but to also keep it out of baby’s mouth 🙂
Model for your little one and talk through everything you are doing. Show him/her how to “paint”. We patted the bag with our hands, hit the bag with a whisk, and felt the foil with our fingers. Not only will you model the actions for your little one, but you are modeling language. Children learn so much better when they put actions and language together!
When all done, open the Ziploc, take the painting out, and put in a safe place for drying.
This was SO fun, quick, and mess free (toss that Ziploc when you are done!)
